We exist to glorify God by multiplying mature disciples through the Word and Spirit for the joy of all peoples in Jesus Christ.
(Matt 6:33; 28:18–20; John 6:35; 15:10–11; 17:17; Acts 1:8; Rom 14:17; 15:13; 1 Cor 10:31; 15:3–8; 2 Cor 3:18; Eph 4:11–13; Col 1:16–20, 28)
In carrying out our mission, Sovereign Joy commits to prioritize the following God-glorifying values:
Heeding God’s Authoritative Word: We teach all the Bible for all of life, believing that the Old and New Testament are God’s trustworthy (infallible) and perfect (inerrant) revealed Word, that all Scripture’s claims are true, and that the Bible provides our highest authority for all matters of doctrine and ethics, faith and practice (Ps 19:7–11; John 17:17; Acts 20:27; 2 Tim 2:15; 3:15–17).
Treasuring Big God- and Big Gospel-Centered Theology: We cherish our trinitarian God’s absolute holiness and sovereignty––even over suffering, and we revel in God’s redemptive purposes climaxing in Christ (Exod 15:11; 34:6–7; Deut 5:7; 6:4–9; Isa 6:3; Rom 11:33–36; 1 Cor 1:18, 23–24; 15:3–8; Eph 1:3–14; Col 1:16–20; Tit 2:4–6).
Revering with Joy the Glory of Christ in Gathered Worship: Revering with Joy the Glory of Christ in Gathered Worship: We magnify God together by prizing expositional preaching and big God- and big gospel-centered songs and prayers that balance gravity and gladness (Ps 95:1–3; Luke 4:43; Acts 10:39–43; Rom 1:15–16; 1 Cor 1:23–24; Col 1:27–29; 3:12–17; Phil 1:12–13; 1 Thess 5:16–18; 2 Tim 4:1–5; Heb 10:23–25; 12:28–29).
Prioritizing Healthy Baptist Church Structure: We practice wholesome, consistent, elder-led, congregational ministry, ordinances, and discipline (Matt 18:15–17; 26:26–28; 28:18–20; Acts 6:2–4; 15:22; 20:28; 1 Cor 11:23–25; Eph 4:11–13; 1 Tim 3:1–13; Tit 1:5–9; Heb 13:7; 1 Pet 4:10–11; 5:1–4).
Celebrating the Beauty of Biblically Defined Personhood, Sexuality, and Marriage: We value every human life from fertilization to natural death as one made in God’s image and prize God’s design for marriage, family, sexual identity and expression, and male and female complementary roles (Gen 1:26–28; Deut 6:7; 10:17–19; 22:5; Ps 78:5–8; 139:13–16; Rom 1:26–27; 1 Cor 6:9–11; Eph 5:22–33; 6:1–4; 1 Thess 4:3–8).
Hungering for Holiness through Humble and Hopeful Purity, Dependence, and Love: We are zealous for good works, pray always, persevere through suffering, and eagerly desire the spiritual gifts as we await Christ’s appearing (Ps 147:10–11; Luke 18:1; Rom 5:3–5; Gal 5:22–23; 6:1–2; Eph 2:10; 5:3–5, 15–21; Phil 2:12– 13; Tit 2:11–14; 1 Cor 12:7–11; 14:1; 1 Thess 5:15–18; Heb 12:14; Jas 1:2–4; 1 Pet 1:3–9; 4:7–11; 5:6–11)
Mobilizing Christians to Bear Witness to Christ Both Locally and Globally: We equip saints to cherish the gospel, persevere in faith, serve others in God’s strength, reach the lost, and teach others to obey Jesus so as to multiply mature disciples and churches near and far (Matt 28:19–20; Luke 4:43; 10:1–2; Acts 1:8; 10:42–43; Rom 1:16; 10:13–17; Eph 4:11–13; Col 1:24–29; 2 Tim 2:2, 15; 1 Pet 4:10–11).
