Deuteronomy 4:44-49 | Dr. Jason DeRouchie
Sep 21, 2025 • Jason DeRouchie
Pastor Jason begins our journey into Deuteronomy as Christian Scripture, written for our instruction and hope. This sermon introduction (Deuteronomy 4:44-49) sets the stage for Moses’s final sermons to the new generation of Israel. Pastor Jason recalls God’s unparalleled power displayed in the Exodus and the defeat of the Amorite kings, Sihon and Og. Simultaneously, we are cautioned by reminders of Israel’s sin and God’s just judgment (the wilderness generation, the plague at Peor). This amazing mercy and divine protection ground Moses's call to love God with all. Ultimately, this law anticipates Christ, the "prophet like Moses," securing a lasting relationship in the new covenant.
